Manuel Fraga   Manuel Fraga Iribarne

He was born in Vilalba (Lugo) in 1923 and he has got five children. He took a degree in Policy and Economy and became a doctor of Law at the University of Madrid. He got the best mark in the examination for the Diplomatic School and he was a professor of Law within 1948 and 1987. He was appointed doctor "honoris causa" by several Spanish and foreign universities. Since 1962 he is a member of the Real Academia Galega and the Academia Galega de Xurisprudencia e lexislación. He has wrote 74 books, most of them dealing with policy and State theory.

In 1951 he started his political life. He was the Minister of Information and Turism during the sixties and the Spanish Ambassador in the United Kingdom from1973 until 1975. In 1977 he founded Alianza Popular and he was designated as the Secretary General of this organization. He was a deputy in the Spanish Congress from 1977 to 1989. He is the Founder President of the Partido Popular and the President of the Partido Popular de Galicia.

After the election of 17th December, 1989, he attained the Presidency of the Galician Autonomous Region with an absolute majority. For next election of 19th October, Manuel Fraga is once again the candidate of the Partido Popular for the Presidency of the Xunta de Galicia.
